Gotta admit I am gun shy... a few times I have gotten really excited... to be dashed in the tournament... all over... sad ... as I stand with my foam finger dropping to the floor... This year seems different what do you guys think... is it better to have a coach who has done it?

“foam finger”…..lol
I feel better this year due to our depth. We had studs a few years ago with Gilyard, Nesbitt, and Lamar, and Allick was solid. Allick had injuries and foul trouble during the year that really hurt us. Nesbitt was slowed due to injury in the first tournament game, and we weren’t the same team because of the drop off in talent. This year we lost our best player, and are still in a good position with depth.
Depth, free throw shooting, defense, mental strength, several shooters, limited turnovers ……all things that make us a more formidable team in a Conference that is down this year.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I don't have any expectations for the conference tournament, but I think winning it is a real possibility.
I have said many times on this forum that winning coaches win. Coach Menzies is a winning coach. He has been a winner everywhere he has been. Last season was goofy. I consider this his first real season and he took us to a winning record in the conference and the number 2 seed in the conference tournament. Looking at the attendance numbers, it seems like there is some buzz for the Roos. Even if it's only on campus right now. Can you imagine if we were to get another local, Tez type player?
I truly believe the future is bright for the Roos if the NCAA rules that only benefit the "important" schools don't screw us.

You have been given every reason in the world to be pessimistic. This program has beaten the dog out of us over the years.
I think we are a year away. We have a puncher's chance, and I think we should be favored to make the final, which is closer than we've ever been before.

We have never made a final.... and never really close... can still remember being up by 18 on Valpo as Mike English is soaring for a follow dunk.. he was called for an "over the back foul" which was his fourth and sat him down with 16 minutes to go... only problem was.... he was over the back of his own team mate.... we lose. Time for a positive vibe.... we are 5-1 against our side of the bracket
