I’m glad someone posted about this. I was excited when I read about this on Twitter a couple days ago, for a few reasons:
1. I think a short-term deal, even for the Summit League, is crucial given how fluid the current media landscape is. 2. Most conferences essentially get their tournament championship put on ESPN for free. Between the Midco component and CBS Sports, we actually have a chance to create a couple different revenue streams. I wouldn’t have been opposed to a deal like the Horizon has where they siding with ESPN also gets them on ESPN+, but I really like our deal.

The article says that Midco will be the exclusive online provider. Does that mean no more free streaming on KCRoos.com?

The article says that Midco will be the exclusive online provider. Does that mean no more free streaming on KCRoos.com? That’s what I’m guessing, which raises an interesting question. I’m assuming we received 100% of any ad revenue generated from those KCRoos streams. If Midco streams all games moving forward, will it be equal revenue sharing amongst the entire conference or, say, will the home team receive x amount of revenue? I’m hoping it’d be the former and not the latter.

The free streaming is done for the Roos website. You will need Midco plus which is 80 bucks a year. I already did it for the women's soccer game last week.. got the pain out of the way. Hopefully this will be good for us... hidden in the article is the 6 linear games on CBS sports Network... very good. There woulda been no chance of getting that on ESPN... pretty cool and some national exposure for us.
