The Roos have 20+ offers out to high school kids for 2024 & 2025. I am not sure how I feel about recruiting High School players. There is certainly more high school talent available to schools like KC now, but there is a lot of investment that goes into kids that may only stay 1-2 years without much impact. Perhaps we are top heavy and it makes sense to go young, but it would seem difficult to justify more than 2 Freshman scholarship players on a roster. In the current state of college basketball, I think it makes more sense to recruit JUCO players, portal transfers, and foreigners. www.verbalcommits.com/schools/kansas-city

I like recruiting h.s. guys, for the sake of building regional contacts with coaches. Gotta be legit D-I prospects, however.

Get the best players possible! The majority of teams are focused on transfer portal and getting experienced players. I am fan of Juco players because many of them were D1 players and transferred to Juco after their freshman season. Others are 2 year players who are ready to play D1 basketball immediately. It would be nice to get some KC area kids that are 3-4 year players. I want to see a top 3 Summit League team every year that makes a NCAA tournament. Coach Menzies and Coach E are bringing in better talent!🎯

Recruiting the best players that can play right away works. However, the days that you can recruit HS kids and expect to build a program around them is likely over. Unless we get some serious NIL money to our athletes, those that play at a higher level will likely move on. That’s just the reality of the college landscape. Our roster is already actively and unethically recruited by other schools while under scholarship.

or try to get them as their 3rd school with 2 years to play... and can't have any more free transfers...
