It sure looks like the school is investing in sports.... perhaps realizing that if you don't provide a great university culture... you might as well educate via zoom meeting... that is good for all of us... NOW... what can we do to help that along.... usually about half of us are pissed and the other half excited with the exit of the coach and then usually about a third of us are thrilled with new coach, third indifferent, third pissed.... then add to that... since we have not made the tournament.... probably 60% of us are "prove it" or "show me"..... yadda yadda .... you add all those variables and what do we get... about 10-15% of us are willing to go the extra mile when the new coach arrives... I get it... what usually happens is the coach has to hustle his ass off with no support for a couple years before he "proves" he can take punishment... then we slowly get back on...
What if... just from this group... We ALL start amping up our support and enthusiasm for our team and spread the word....RIGHT NOW... then we wait for the staff to prove they can't do it... that is my approach every year... this past year was lovely since I did not have my bad times til the tournament... sometimes in February and even worse some years in January I realize we won't make it.
But the reason it works for me is that I get to be positive from Final Four time all the way up til reality... last year just a couple games from Nirvana.... Let's all jump forward and make this a great fan season to the point that everyone around us notices... then the new coach can get a first year boost instead of a first year anchor around his waist....
Buck up... lets go Roos. Just watched the Menzies press conference again and I am JACKED UP.... lets go.
