Finally getting some love nationwide and conference wide from people who know and over mid major D1 basketball. Reaching the Summit podcast and major madness have recently tweeted that Coach Donlon has to be considered for Summit League Coach of the year. He has kept the team together thru all the injuries, improved players thru player development, and recruited at a higher level than any coach at K.C. In years. Good young players like: Josiah, Barnes, Chapman, Boser, and brought in key transfers like Allen, Gilyard, and Kopp. Job well done by all the coaches. Remember he also hired 2 new coaches this off season. He has had a great year coaching A+.

Getting Gilyard and Lamar to come to KC was huge!
Marvin returning for an extra year was huge!
Coach Donlon reaching these young men says a lot.
These player leaders have also been huge for the player culture and program.
Most noticeable to me:
Gilyard: brings us much needed swagger.
Lamar: the complete confidence.
Nesbitt: tenacity and determination

Agree with everything posted. I’ll also add that I’ve been impressed by how often this team wins the battle on the boards given their height disadvantage. Even when they don’t, it’s not like they get dominated, either.

This team defends and plays harder than most team I watch on tv. Coach Donlon teams do not back down from anyone and will play defense which will keep them in games against bigger and more talented teams! Defense travels well giving you a chance for road wins!
