South Dakota forward Hunter Goodrich is transferring after starting all 31 games and scoring 7.5 points a game. He averaged 7 rebounds a game while shooting 57% from the floor. A solid Summit League player! The whole team is in portal about like when Coach Donlon was hired and 11 Roo players entered the portal.

Joe Pleasant, 6'7" forward from Wichita State and Abiline Christian, and Blue Valley Northwest in the portal as a grad transfer. He had a nice career at Abiline Christian, and performed well in the NCAA tournament. However, he didnt seem to fit in at Wichita State. Maybe he would consider a move to KC.

Tyreese Davis 6’6 guard from Jacksonville U. Has entered the portal. He has 2 seasons left after averaging 11 points and 4 rebounds a game. He played high school basketball at Grandview and Link Prep. He has good size and has proven he can score at the D1 level. The Roos contacted him last year when he entered the portal before deciding to return to Jacksonville!

Transfer portal news: Ben Gahlert 6’8 forward from Limestone D2 who averaged 15.4 points and 7 rebounds. He is a grad transfer with 2 years to play. He is originally from Germany. He could be a replacement for Hidde and Boser. Next is R.J. Johnson 6’1 guard from Holy Cross who averaged around 8 points this season. He was on All Rookie Patriot League team in 2021 season. Both players have been contacted in last 48 hours by the Roos per Jake Lieberman. Both have several D1 schools showing interest in them.

Dalen Ridgnal from Georgia, Crowley Co Juco, Rockhurst high has entered the transfer portal. He averaged 3 points and 3 rebounds playing just 10 minutes a game this season in SEC. He was a Juco All American at Crowley and a teammate of Shamarri. Allen. He was a dominant player at Rockhurst with a listed size of 6’7 200 pounds. He can play on the wing and has a nice outside shot, while having played 3 years of college basketball. He would be a good signing!

Murray State Coach leaves for LSU and now all but one player has entered the transfer portal. This portal is ruining college basketball and really hurting the mid major programs. The Roos will continue to struggle keeping their good players from leaving for better opportunities. The majority of players are totally unrealistic in their view of the portal. They get lots of minutes at D1 mid major enter the portal and end up at D2 school. Franck left the Roos playing around 30 minutes a game and goes back to D2 school and averages less minutes played and scores fewer points. I do not understand why starters leave, the bench players were not playing anyway so not a big loss unless they were freshman or sophomores.

It is probably way too tempting for a young person to want to go through the excitement of being recruited again, and I am sure that I would have been no different. I think the NCAA probably needs some arrangement where kids have a "cooling off period" after their initial request before it is official, and/or provide players with data indicating where previous players in their position have ended up. I think that a lot of these kids are going to go down a level, go to JUCO, or be out of a scholarship all together. High School kids are getting overlooked that normally would have had a scholarship, and those that commit are likely to repeat the transfer process in the future.. 5th year Covid transfer players complicate matters as well.

Add Luke Kasubke from KSTATE to the transfer portal. He played 2 years there averaging 2 points a game while playing about 12 minutes a game. He is 6’5 shooting guard similar to Kopp. He played basketball in St Louis at Chaminade Prep and had 13 D1 offers including one from the Roos. Almost 2/3 shots were from behind the 3 point line, however last season he was only 25% from three (10/40). Local player played AAU basketball with Bradley Beal Elite. I think he would fit in with Coach Donlon’s style of play.

Welcome Marlon Ruffin from Portland State and Omaha to the portal. He averaged 10 points and 3 rebounds while playing 21 minutes a game. He was an all conference player at OMAHA scoring 13 points a game. A 6’5 guard at 195 who can score and has played 3 years of D1 basketball. I liked him at Omaha before he was a guy for the guards to have to guard. I compare him to Nesbitt in his playing style, except Nesbitt is a better 3 point shooter. Ruffin was recently contacted by 5 schools including the Roos per Inside the Portal Twitter site. It is a good Twitter follow.

Per Jake Lieberman, kyler Filewich 6’9 center from Southern Illinois has entered the portal. He averaged 4 points and 3 rebounds per game last season. He is originally from Canada and has played 2 years at D1 level. Cameron Healy is a transfer from Central Michigan who averaged about 12 points and shot 36% from three. He has a couple power 5 that have contacted him so he may be a long shot for the Roos. He is originally from Wales.
